Every now and then you might need to block specific third parties from accessing your sites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for example, and create fake visits and site traffic. There are spammers that leave links to shady websites as comments to site articles. This sort of things may greatly undermine your projects, simply because no one likes to visit a site with many fake comments, also the increased site traffic from both spammers and bots may generate high load on the web server in which your site is hosted, that can result in the site not working correctly. Among the most effective solutions in such cases is to block the IPs that produce the fake traffic, in order to be certain that the visits to your site are legitimate.
IP Blocking in Cloud Web Hosting
If you have a cloud web hosting account with our company and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a really simple interface, you are able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to do that is to log inside to your Control Panel, to visit the IP Blocking section, to select a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You will not need to do anything complex if you'd like to block a whole network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed within the same section, so you shall be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with just a mouse click.
IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated packages, will allow you to solve the challenge with unwanted traffic very quickly and easily. It includes an IP blocking tool in which you may add IP addresses with just several clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have within the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just need to pick the one you need and then enter the IP address that has to be blocked. If you want to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you just need to enter the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you will not have to input them manually. Since all the IPs that you add in this section shall be listed, you can quickly unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the particular IP.
