Each time a page on your Internet site does not load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages which will display, but what is standard for all of them is that they're generic and almost certainly shall have practically nothing that resembles the layout of your site, which could be irritating for any site visitor. That is the main reason why hosting service providers have introduced a feature known as Custom Error Pages. For a range of different errors, site visitors will see your customized content, which may be informative or humorous, depending on your choice, and which shall match the layout of your website, so the pages won't appear as if they're not part of your website at all. You can use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Web Hosting
If you obtain a Linux cloud web hosting package
from our company, you shall be able to set custom made error pages for your Internet sites easily, as this feature is a part of all of our plans. The moment you have created the files and uploaded them to your website hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and click on the Edit button for the specific domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up which will be displayed, you'll see drop-down options menus for all 4 kinds of errors and for each one of them you may select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a custom made page. Should you pick the third option, you should only enter the URL to the file that you've uploaded then save the change. Another way to set personalized error pages is to set up an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to include a few lines of program code in it. If you don't have preceding experience or if you're simply unsure how to do this, you could just copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All Linux semi-dedicated packages
which we supply support customized error pages and it will not take more than several mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you'll need to type in the links to the custom-made files via basic drop-down menus and an easy to work with interface. Of course, you need to upload them inside your account before that. If you don't want to employ this function at some point, you could disable it just as easily and select an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed when your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to enable the personalized error pages. The file has to contain a specific line of code plus a link for every error type and you can find an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
